October 17, 2024 - The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) of the University of Wollongong Malaysia (UOW), Professor Dr Hon Wei Min, received a courtesy call from representatives of the Malaysia Board of Technologists (MBOT). The representatives included Dr. Md Fauzi bin Md Ismail, Registrar of MBOT, Ts. Dr. Nor Aznan bin Mohd Nor, Director of Technology and Technical Accreditation Secretariat (TTAS), Mrs. Anis Syahrina binti Lukman and Ms. Nor Arifah Nabilah binti Arif Afandi, Assistant Director TTAS MBOT.

The purpose of this courtesy call was to share the latest updates about MBOT comprehensively and to explore potential collaboration opportunities between UOW and MBOT, such as the accreditation of technology and technical academic programs, the development of new academic programs related to technology and technical fields, enhancing the professionalism of UOW lecturers through MBOT professional recognition, and the establishment of joint programs between UOW and MBOT.

For IT and computing related programmes, MBOT accreditation allows these programs to gain recognition under the Seoul Accord. This recognition ensures that graduates meet internationally established standards and guarantees equivalence with graduates from countries that are full signatories of the Seoul Accord. In addition, graduates of these programs are also eligible to automatically register as graduate members of MBOT, paving the way for them to become professional members in the future.
