16 Apr, 2026 - In a strategic effort to strengthen the integration of academic excellence with professional industry standards, Southern University College recently welcomed a courtesy visit from the Malaysia Board of Technologists (MBOT). The delegation was received by Professor ChM Dr. Leong Loong Kong, President of Southern University College, together with representatives of the University's management.

The MBOT delegation was led by Dr. Md Fauzi bin Md Ismail, Registrar of MBOT, accompanied by Director of TTAS, Ts. Dr. Nor Aznan bin Mohd Nor, and Assistant Director, Auni Batrisya binti Mohamad Zaihan.

The engagement focused on strengthening collaboration and aligning Southern University College's academic offerings with MBOT's professional recognition and accreditation framework. Key areas of discussion included programme accreditation, particularly in enhancing technology-related programmes to meet the quality standards established by the Technology and Technical Accreditation Council; professional recognition, by encouraging academic staff to obtain recognition as Professional Technologists (Ts.) or Certified Technicians (Tc.), thereby strengthening the institution's industry-oriented academic profile; and short course certification, through the development of accredited micro-credentials and short courses aimed at upskilling the workforce in specialised technical fields.

This engagement reflects a shared commitment towards producing competent, industry-ready graduates and advancing talent development in line with national aspirations. MBOT also expressed its readiness to facilitate and provide guidance to Southern University College in the preparation of accreditation-related documentation, should assistance be required.
