21 Apr, 2026 - A high-level delegation from Universiti Malaya-Wales (UM-Wales), led by its Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. Roselina binti Ahmad Saufi, recently conducted a courtesy visit to the Malaysia Board of Technologists (MBOT).

The visit aimed to bridge academic excellence with professional recognition, specifically focusing on the booming digital and IT sectors. The delegation was warmly received by the Registrar of MBOT, Dr. Md Fauzi bin Md Ismail.

The discussions centered on the alignment of UM-Wales' academic curricula with the rigorous standards required for professional registration under the Technologists and Technicians Act 2015 (Act 768). A significant highlight of the meeting was the university's keen interest in the professional pathways for its students and staff. Professor Dr. Roselina expressed a strong commitment to facilitating the registration of graduates and faculty members as Professional Technologists (Ts.) and Certified Technicians (Tc.). This initiative is intended to enhance the professional standing and industry-readiness of the UM-Wales community.

Furthermore, the visit explored the development of industry-relevant short courses. These programmes are envisioned to provide lifelong learning opportunities and specialized technical training that align with MBOT's Professional Development requirements.

The delegation's interest is further bolstered by MBOT's status as a Full Signatory of the Seoul Accord. This international recognition ensures that MBOT-accredited computing and IT programmes are globally benchmarked, offering UM-Wales graduates a competitive edge in international markets such as the UK, USA, Australia, and South Korea.
